2005 Events, Indianapolis-Cologne Sister City Committee

  • Karneval 2005.

  • Visit by Dagmar Weiler from Bridge to Understanding.

  • Butler University hosted a seminar on Germany in April. Our committee presented our work as "Citizen Diplomats" at the conference and provided the "Germany in the U.S." exhibit.

  • Sven Schumacher made a presentation to the Downtown Lions Club in October.

  • The 60th anniversary of the end of World War II was commemorated during an international conference in Cologne in May. Indianapolis was among the Sister Cities invited from countries involved n the war.

  • The Toyota Formula One team from Cologne-Marsdorf came to the 2005 American Grand Prix.

  • We welcomed Hartwig Preussmann and Thomas Gillner to Indianapolis. John Herbst, director of the Indiana State Museum, exchanged ideas with colleagues on his visit to Cologne in August.

  • Our friends in Cologne assisted 171 people from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis who visited Germany for World Youth Day, a once-in-a-lifetime event.

  • We have already begun the visioning and strategic planning process for the Indianapolis-Cologne Sister City Committee's future direction. Your participation and involvement is invited.
